Travel to China in 1994; India in 1999 and 2002. Composed travel essay on People's Republic of China based on 1-month visit to 5 cities in 1994. Manuscript is entitled China: Life's Simple Pleasures. Athletics
* Triathlons: Completed 63 events from 2001 to 2008, including eight half ironman events, 2005-2008, and Ironman Louisville, 2007 and 2008.
* Distance running: Completed Olathe KS marathon in 2006.
* Open water swims: Tiburon Mile, 2007. Wingshadow 2.4 mile swim at Horsetooth Reservoir, Fort Collins CO in 2004 and 2005, and Carter Lake, 2006. Big Shoulders Swim, Lake Michigan, 2004 and 2005 (5k), and 2006 (2.5k).
* Mountain climbing in Colorado -- 20+ ascents over 14,000'.
